Laura was born and raised in Rustrel in the Luberon, a village known for its Colorado with its colorful ochre cliffs. This is perhaps where her passion for painting began. She has always loved drawing and creating, and has been mixing colors with her brushes for as long as she can remember. Her first exhibition was held in Rustrel in 2012. Today, she lives and works in a small village in the Monts de Vaucluse: Monieux, about thirty kilometers from where she had her first experiences. She paints with watercolor or acrylic paint pictures of the interiors of houses, where a living silence reigns. The inhabitants of the houses are not present on the canvas, the beds are unmade, the clothes abandoned on the floor, the tables filled with open books and glasses of wine: testimony to their moments spent there, loving, reading, being. An ordinary, poetic life, illuminated by the light of day passing through the window panes.
A multifaceted creation
Whether on a large-format acrylic canvas intended for a collection, on the texture of watercolor paper, or presented as poetic stationery for everyday use, my work carries the same emphasis on gentleness and storytelling. I design my images to be experienced, to inhabit your homes like comforting spaces. This narrative approach also makes my illustrations ideal for the world of publishing and bespoke projects, offering professionals a sensitive universe already rich with stories.
The Workshop-Boutique in Monieux
It is in the heart of the village of Monieux, at the gateway to the spectacular Gorges de la Nesque, that Laura Rachez's workshop has set up shop in a former inn with authentic charm and a wood-paneled facade. Here, in a hidden corner of Provence where time seems to have stood still, the air is tinged in summer with the scent of lavender carried by the surrounding distilleries.
This vibrant space is a collective and participatory shop dedicated to crafts. You will discover my original paintings, my artist stationery (greeting cards, postcards, bookmarks, stickers and prints), alongside the creations of my fellow artists: pottery, jewelry, weavings in local wool and upholstery bags.

During the season (April to October): Open every day from 10am to 6pm.
Off-season (Winter): Open by appointment and depending on my availability at the studio. Feel free to contact me if you are in the area!
To meet the artist:
Fellow artisans take turns working at the shop twice a month during the season, so we alternate shifts throughout the day. If you're coming from far away and would like to make sure I'm there to chat about my work, it's always best to contact me before you arrive.
